Where are you?

What is your relationship with Poplar Nurseries?

We operate in close co-operation with our friends at Poplar Nurseries, but we are a separate company operating at their site under a lease arrangement.

Steam Train

Are all train steam hauled?

Our steam engines operate most weekends but we also run a steam outline locomotive and replica diesel engine. We find that very young children are more comfortable with the quieter non steam engines. Dads usually prefer the steam engines!

Do trains run every day?

No. See here for details of opening times and dates.

Train Ticket

Do we need to pre-book tickets?

No all tickets are sold at the railway, either on the day or in a prepaid ticket cards that can be used at any time.

Coins

Do you take credit cards?

We prefer cash transactions, as the bank charges are less, but we can accept Credit or Debit cards. Unfortunately we can't accept American Express.

Dog

Can we bring our dog?

No, sadly dogs are not allowed on the Poplar Nurseries site, guide dogs excepted.

How long does the ride last?

You should allow about 5 minutes for boarding the train, the journey and disembarking afterwards.

Do you operate in bad weather?

Nobody wants to sit on a train on a cold and wet day so we do reserve the right not to operate in bad weather. Please check our Facebook page for details of service cancellations.

Tickets

Can I buy a season ticket or visitors pass?

We no longer sell these. However all second and subsequent rides on the day are half price and children under four don't pay, if accompanied by a responsible person.
