Poplar Miniature Railway was constructed in late 2013 to provide steam hauled train rides through the gardens at the Poplar Nurseries. Although we work closely with the team at Poplar Nurseries we are an independent company, with a background in heavy rail engineering.
The line is constructed to a gauge of 7 1/4" and uses coal fired steam engines to provide a ride of around three minutes duration through landscaped gardens. The trains operate at low speeds and are suitable for all ages.
The railway complements the other attractions at the garden centre and many of our passengers combine the train ride with visits to the restaurant, farm shop, play area and nurseries on site.
